Submissions

Author Guidelines

These guidelines apply to all manuscripts submitted to Nesne Journal of Psychology. Before submitting, please also read the Publication Policy and the Research and Publication Ethics pages.

Submission

Manuscripts are submitted only through the journal system (Submit a Manuscript). Submission, review and publication are free of charge. The work must not have been published elsewhere or be under review at another journal. The following files are uploaded:

1. Main text: a single Word file containing no information that identifies the authors; no template is needed at first submission (see below)
2. Title Page and Author Declaration Form: author details, ethics approval information and the end-of-article statements
3. Ethics approval document (for studies that require ethics approval)
4. Supplementary files (if any): additional tables, materials, data and code

In the submission form, enter each author's given name and family name (identically in the Turkish and English fields), affiliation (as Institution, Faculty/Department, City, Country), country and ORCID iD. Enter the title, abstract and keywords in both Turkish and English.

First submission and the Article Template

The Article Template is not required at first submission, so that authors do not spend time on formatting a manuscript that may be rejected. It is enough for the main text to contain, in a readable layout: the title, abstract and keywords in Turkish and English; the main text; tables and figures; and a complete and consistent reference list (APA 7 recommended).

When revisions are requested after peer review, the revised manuscript is transferred to the Article Template, including the Extended Abstract for articles in Turkish, and prepared according to the format rules below. For manuscripts accepted without revision, the templated version is requested after acceptance.

Article types

Word limits exclude the abstract, references, tables, figures and the extended English abstract.

Structure of the main text

1. Title: in Turkish and English; no more than 20 words.
2. Abstract and Öz: 150–250 words each. For research articles, state the aim, method, results and conclusion. Each is followed by 3–5 keywords.
3. Main text: research articles have an Introduction (which begins without a heading), Method (Participants, Measures, Procedure, Data Analysis), Results and Discussion. Review articles and case reports use headings suited to their content.
4. End-of-article statements (below; added after acceptance)
5. References
6. Extended Abstract (for articles in Turkish; added at the revision stage)

Extended English abstract

All articles written in Turkish, including those published in symposium issues, must include an extended English abstract of 750–1,000 words. It is not required at first submission; it is written in the Extended Abstract section of the template together with the revised manuscript. For research articles it is structured under Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion and reports the main findings with their numerical results. Authors are responsible for the quality of the English; the language editor may make corrections as needed.

Format

The following rules apply to the templated manuscript submitted at the revision stage.

• Manuscripts follow APA 7 (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition).
• Word file; A4, Times New Roman 12 pt, double line spacing, 2.5 cm margins; page numbers top right.
• Headings follow the APA 7 heading levels and are not numbered.
• Tables and figures are prepared according to APA 7, numbered and placed immediately after their first mention in the text. The number and title go above the table or figure; explanations go below, introduced by "Note." Figures are also uploaded separately at a resolution of at least 300 dpi.
• Statistics are reported according to APA 7: test statistic, degrees of freedom, exact p value (values below .001 as p < .001), effect size and, where appropriate, confidence intervals. Statistical symbols are italicized.
• In-text explanation is preferred to footnotes.

Ethics approval information

For studies that require ethics approval, the name of the committee and the date and number of its decision are given in the Method section; the institution's name is masked during anonymous review. At publication, this information is also shown on the first page of the article. Institutional and scale permissions and informed consent are also stated in the Method section (see Ethics Approval and Informed Consent).

End-of-article statements

During review, the following statements appear on the Title Page and Author Declaration Form; after acceptance they are added to the article, before the references, under the same headings:

• Ethics Approval: the name of the committee and the date and number of the decision, or the reason approval was not required
• Author Contributions: each author's contribution using CRediT roles (see Authorship and Contributorship)
• Funding and Acknowledgements: sources of funding (with project titles and numbers) and acknowledgements
• Conflict of Interest: whether any conflict exists, including board membership (see Conflicts of Interest and Funding)
• Data Availability Statement (see Data Sharing and Open Science)
• Use of Artificial Intelligence (see Artificial Intelligence Policy)

References

References follow APA 7. DOIs are given for every source that has one, in the form https://doi.org/. Every citation in the text appears in the reference list and every item in the list is cited in the text. Sources in non-Latin scripts are transliterated into Latin script, with a translation of the title in square brackets. In articles written in Turkish, the Turkish conventions "ve", "vd." and "s." are used instead of "&", "et al." and "p.".

After acceptance

• Authors sign the Copyright and Licence Agreement. From the December 2026 issue (Volume 14, Issue 38), articles are published under the CC BY 4.0 licence and copyright remains with the authors.
• The article is checked for language and format. The editorial office may make language and format corrections that do not change the meaning; any change that affects the content is submitted to the authors for approval.
• The typeset proof is sent to the authors, who correct typesetting errors only, within 1 week.
• The article is published with a DOI in the first available issue.
