Öz

Bu çalışma, duygu içerikli uyaranların üst-bellek performansı üzerindeki etkisi üzerine yapılan ampirik makaleleri gözden geçirmek için tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmalar tutarlı bir şekilde duygu içerikli uyaranların daha yüksek üst-bellek değerlendirmeleri alarak hatırda daha kalıcı olarak değerlendirildiğini gösterse de duygu içerikli uyaranların bellek performansı üzerindeki etkileri bu denli tutarlı bir sonuç sunamamaktadır. Bazı çalışmalar bellek performansı açısından duygu içerikli ve nötr uyaranlar arasında bir fark bulamazken bazı çalışmalar da özellikle kelime ve kelime çiftleri söz konusu olduğunda duygu içerikli uyaranlar avantajına; yüz ifadesi, resim ve imajlar söz konusu olduğunda ise nötr uyaranlar avantajına bir bellek performansı göstermektedir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, uyarıcının duygusallığının katılımcılar tarafından gelecek bellek performansına dair bir ipucu olarak algılandığı ve bireylerin değerlendirmelerini belleğe direkt erişimden ziyade bu ipuçlarının varlığına göre yaptığı düşünülmektedir. Sonuç olarak, duygu içerikli uyaranların üst-bellek performansına olan etkisi, uyaranın doğası, uyaranın duygusal değeri, görevin türü ve katılımcıların yaşı faktörlerine göre değişkenlik göstermektedir. İncelenen çalışmaların çoğunun sınırlı bir yaş ve sosyoekonomik grubu temsil etmesi ve katılımcıların mevcut duygu durumlarına ilişkin kontrollerin eksik olması gibi sınırlılıkları tartışılmıştır. Ayrıca gelecek çalışmalarda duygusal değerlik ve uyarılma düzeyinin rolü ve etkinin nörobilimsel temelleri üzerine incelemelerin yapılması gibi öneriler sunulmuştur.
