Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı, yaşamın kritik gelişim dönemlerinden biri olan ergenlikteki kimlik gelişimini ve helikopter ebeveynliğin ergenlerin kimlik gelişim sürecine olan etkisini ele almaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında helikopter ebeveynliğin ergenler üzerindeki olumsuz etkilerinden, bununla beraber diğer ebeveynlik stillerinden ayrılan özelliklerinden bahsedilmektedir. Helikopter ebeveynlik, birçok ortak noktasının bulunduğu aşırı korumacı ve kontrolcü ebeveynlik stillerinden farklı bir ebeveynlik anlayışı olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Yapılan çalışmalar bu tarz ebeveynlik davranışlarının ergenlerin kimlik gelişim sürecindeki olumsuz etkilerini ortaya koymaktadır. Helikopter ebeveynlik davranışları bebeklik döneminden itibaren gözlemlenmekle beraber, ergenlik döneminde en yoğun biçimde karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Ancak bu çalışma kapsamında ergenlik dönemindeki helikopter ebeveynliğin, ergenlerin yetişkinliğe geçiş sürecine olan etkisi de göz önünde bulundurularak, bu tür ebeveynlik davranışlarının beliren yetişkinlik dönemi boyunca süren etkilerinden de bahsedilmektedir. Bu amaçla alan yazında daha önce yapılan çalışmalar derlenmiştir, çalışmalar sonucunda elde edilen bulgular bu çerçevede tartışılmıştır. Farklı birçok veri tabanından elde edilen bulgularla helikopter ebeveynliğin ergenlikteki kimlik gelişimine olan etkisi incelenmiştir, öneriler sunulmuştur. Yapılan bu çalışmanın literatüre ebeveynlik tutum ve davranışları, çocuk yetiştirme biçimleri, kimlik gelişimi ve ergenlik dönemi konularında katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.
