Öz
Bu çalışmanın amacı, Paullay ve arkadaşları (1994) tarafından, çalışanların yaşamlarında işlerinin ne derece önemli bir rol oynadığına ilişkin inançlarını ölçmek amacıyla geliştirilmiş olan İş Merkezliliği Ölçeğini Türk kültürüne uyarlamaktır. Araştırmada iki çalışma yürütülmüştür. İlk çalışmada beyaz yakalı statüsünde çalışan katılımcılara İş Merkezliliği Ölçeği uygulanarak madde-toplam korelasyonları, Cronbach alfa güvenirlik katsayısı ve açımlayıcı faktör analizi bulgularına yer verilmiştir. 213 (YaşOrt.=33.52, S=8.53) katılımcının yer aldığı birinci çalışmanın madde-toplam korelasyonları incelenmiş ve .30’un altında kalan 2 madde ölçekten çıkarılmıştır. Ölçekten elde edilen Cronbach alfa katsayısı .83’tür. Açımlayıcı faktör analizi bulgularına göre ölçeğin orijinalinde olduğu gibi tek faktörlü yapısı desteklenmiştir. Çalışmanın ikinci aşamasında ölçeğin faktör yapısını doğrulamak amacıyla 287 (YaşOrt.=28.60, S=7.48) katılımcıdan elde edilen verilere doğrulayıcı faktör analizi uygulanmıştır. Çalışmanın ölçüt geçerliliği için İş Stresi Ölçeği ve İş Tatmini Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Ölçeğin doğrulayıcı faktör analizinden elde edilen uyum değerleri ile ölçüt geçerliliğinde kullanılan değişkenler arasındaki korelasyonlar incelendiğinde İş Merkezliliği Ölçeğinin geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğu görülmektedir. İş Merkezlilik Ölçeği'nin Türk kültürüne uyarlanmasıyla, Türkiye'deki çalışanların iş merkezli yaşam algılarının daha doğru ve kültüre uygun bir şekilde ölçülebileceği öngörülmektedir.
