Öz

Sanal ortamlarda yaşanılan deneyimler hem gündelik hayatın hem de bilimsel çalışmaların içinde yaygınlaşmaktadır. Sanal gerçeklik teknolojisinin ilerlemesi ile yeni araştırma sorularının sorulması mümkün olmaktadır. Bu sayede özellikle bedenin farklı deneyimlenmesi, avatarlarla kurulan ilişkiler, hareketli ve etkileşimli medya kullanımı hem araştırma konusu hem de araştırma yöntemi olarak gittikçe daha fazla oranda tercih edilmektir. Ayrıca insanların sanal ortamlarda kurdukları ilişkiler sosyal psikoloji için etkileşimin yeni ve araştırılması gereken bir çeşidi haline gelmiştir. Bu derleme çalışmasının amacı sosyal psikoloji alanında sanal gerçekliğin hem bir çalışma aracı hem de bir çalışma alanı olarak nasıl ele alındığına yönelik bir derleme oluşturmaktır. Öncelikle teknik terimler ve gerekli yazılım ve donanım tanıtılmış ve sanal gerçeklik alanyazınında önem taşıyan buradalık ve kapsama kavramları açıklanmıştır. Bunların ardından sosyal psikoloji alanında benlik, ahlak, kimlik, dehşet yönetimi, sosyal etki gibi alanlarda sanal gerçeklikle yürütülen çalışmalardan örnekler sunulmuştur. Sanal gerçeklik çalışmalarında ortaya çıkabilecek tekinsiz vadi, sanal gerçeklik hastalığı gibi teknik sınırlıklar, etik meseleler ve deneysel tasarım konuları tartışılmıştır. Son olarak sanal gerçekliğin alana yaptığı ve yapabileceği katkılar üzerinde durulmuştur.
