Öz

Renk algısı, diller arasında renkleri ifade eden kelime dağarcığındaki çeşitlilik nedeniyle uzun yıllardır dil ve düşünce ilişkisi üzerine yürütülen tartışmaların temel ilgi alanlarından biri olmuştur. Bu makalede renk alanında dil ve görme etkileşimini inceleyen görgül araştırmaların bulguları ele alınmıştır. Özellikle, dil ve düşünce etkileşimleri ile ilgili dilde görelilik görüşü ve evrenselci görüş temel alınarak, dildeki renk terimlerinin renk algısını mı yoksa renk algısı sonrası karar süreçlerini mi etkilediği tartışılmıştır. Dil ve renk algısını davranışsal, gelişimsel, elektrofizyolojik, nörogörüntüleme ve nöromodülasyon gibi yöntemlerle inceleyen görgül araştırmaların bulguları çeşitli renk algısı görevlerinde dildeki ayrımlarla benzer farklar olduğunu ortaya koymuşlardır. Bu araştırmalarda, farklı renk terimleriyle ifade edilen renklerin aynı renk terimiyle ifade edilen renklere kıyasla görsel olarak daha kolay ayırt edildiği ve dolayısıyla avantajlı olduğu bulunmuştur. Fakat sözel kodlara erişimin davranışsal yöntemlerle veya nöromodülasyonla engellendiği çalışmalarda bu farklılıkların ortadan kalkması, bu avantajın renk algısında dile bağlı meydana gelen derin ve kalıcı değişikliklerden kaynaklanmadığını düşündürmektedir. Bu bulgular bir arada ele alındığında, renk alanındaki dil ve görme etkileşimlerinin, algı sonrası karar süreçleri sırasında görsel ve sözel kodlar arasındaki anlık etkileşimlerden kaynaklanabileceğine işaret etmektedir.
