Öz

Meme kanserinin ve tedavisinin kadınların psikolojik sağlığını nasıl etkilediğine dair araştırmalar gün geçtikçe artmaktadır. Yalnızca tedavinin değil, kanser teşhisinden, kanser tedavisinin başlangıcına kadar olan sürede de kadınların psikolojik sağlığının etkilendiğine dair bilgiler mevcuttur. Son yıllarda, bu süreçte müdahalede bulunulmasını öneren güncel bir yaklaşım olan ön rehabilitasyon müdahalesi ön plana çıkmaktadır. Meme kanserinin ve tedavisinin kadınların psikolojik sağlığına etkilerinde, kadınların beden imgeleriyle ilgili yaşadıkları sorunlar önemli bir yere sahiptir. Beden imgesi, bireyin fiziksel özelliklerine ilişkin hissettiği duygu, düşünce ve davranışlarının kavramsallaşmış hali olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Son yıllarda, meme kanserli kadınlarda, beden imgesiyle ilgili sorunların azaltılmasını hedefleyen müdahaleler, artış göstermektedir. Öz-şefkat, bireyin kusurlarına içten, sevecen ve sıcak bir tavırla yaklaşması olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Meme kanseri olan kadınların beden imgelerine dair yaşadıkları sorunların azalmasında, öz-şefkatin rolüne ilişkin vurgu gün geçtikçe artmaktadır. Bu bilgilerden hareketle bu çalışmada, meme kanseri olan kadınların beden imgeleriyle ilgili yaşadıkları sorunlar ve bu sorunların azalmasında öz-şefkatin rolüne ilişkin alanyazın bilgileri gözden geçirilmekte ve ön rehabilitasyon müdahalesi kapsamında tartışılmaktadır.
