Öz
Kitle iletişim araçlarının kullanımı ve yaygınlaşması insanlar arasındaki iletişimi değiştirip dönüştürmüştür. Sosyal medya kullanımı, bireylerin gayri resmi etkileşimlerinin yanı sıra kurumsal yapıları ve profesyonel rutinleri de etkileyerek günlük yaşamın mekaniklerine derinlemesine nüfuz etmektedir. Sosyal medya platformlarının yaygınlaşması ve kullanımının giderek artmasıyla birlikte, birey ve toplum üzerindeki etkileri de önemli bir araştırma zemini oluşturmuştur. Bu etkilerden biri olarak ele alınabilecek olan bağlam çöküşü kavramı, günlük yaşam içerisinde yüzyüze sosyal ilişkilerde önemli bir belirleyici olan farklı bağlamların sanal dünyada bir araya gelerek birbirinin üzerine çöküşünü ifade etmektedir. Sosyal medya platformlarının herkese açık olması ve fiziki mekanlarda farklı bağlamlarda karşılaşılan, etkileşime girilen kişilerin hepsini aynı yere taşıması bir bağlam çökmesine sebep olmaktadır. Farklı bağlamların birbirinin üzerine çöktüğü sosyal medya, bireylerin benlik sunumu pratiklerini karmaşık hale getirerek referans noktalarını ortadan kaldırmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, bağlam çöküşü kavramının kuramsal temellerini irdelemek ve ardından söz konusu kavramı sosyal psikoloji ve yeni medya disiplinleri çerçevesinde ele alarak çok disiplinli bir bakış açısı sunmaktır. Çalışmanın amacı doğrultusunda öncelikle söz konusu disiplinler çerçevesinde günlük yaşam pratiklerinde bağlamın yeri ve önemi üzerinde durulmuştur. Ardından bağlam çöküşü kavramına yönelik kuramsal tartışmalar ve görgül araştırmalar derlenmiştir. Son olarak ise, bağlam çöküşü kavramının toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri ile ilişkisi ve COVID-19 pandemi sürecinin bağlam çöküşü üzerindeki etkileri tartışılmıştır.
