Bu makale, “Geştalt Kuramı: Bir ‘Nazariye’nin Mazisi, Akameti ve Akıbeti…” makalesinin devamı niteliğinde olup Geştalt kuramının bellek alanında önerdiklerine ve ürettiklerine odaklanmaktadır. Geştalt kuramının algı süreçlerine dair çalışmaları ve önermeleri bir nebze biliniyorken bellek alanında ürettiği son derece zengin düşünceler ve görgül çalışmalar hemen hiç bilinmemektedir. Makalenin amacı, bu bilinmezi görünür kılmak. Makalenin ilk bölümünde Geştalt kuramcılarından Kurt Koffka’nın 1936 tarihli Geştalt Prensipleri kitabının belleğe dair bölümleri ele alınmaktadır. Bu bölümde kuramın, ardışık dizilerdeki Geştalt algısının aslında belleksel süreçler barındırdığına, bellek izlerinin Geştalt’lar olduğu ve bu Geştalt’ların dinamik özelliklere sahip olduğuna dair önermeleri sunulacaktır. Kuramın belleğe dair belki de en önemli önermesi, herhangi bir bellek izinin bir Geştalt olarak taşıdığı tekilliğe (‘Prägnanz’) göre zaman içinde “durup dururken” değişime uğrayabildiğidir. Kuram daha da ileriye giderek tekillik vasfına bağlı olarak hangi bellek izinin değişeceği ve olası olarak ne yönde değişeceği, hangilerinse değişiklik göstermeden zamana direneceğini öngörmeye çalışır. Aynı bölümde, Hedwig von Restorff’un Geştalt kuramının belleğe dair en güçlü çalışmalarından biri sayılabilecek 1933 tarihli doktora tezi ele alınacaktır. Bu çalışma, kuramın şekil-zemin ikiliğinin bellekteki karşılığını görünür kılması nedeniyle önemlidir. Makalenin son bölümünde ise, Geştalt kuramı bağlamında çok özgün fikirler geliştirmiş ve görgül araştırmalar yürütmüş, ancak buna ragmen ana akım bilişsel psikoloji içinde görmezden gelinmiş Erich Goldmeier’ın çalışmaları ele alınacaktır.
