Öz
Bu çalışmanın amacı, Conger ve arkadaşları (1990) tarafından eşlerin/romantik partnerlerin yaşadıkları ekonomik güçlükleri ölçmek için geliştirilmiş olan Ekonomik Güçlük İndeksi’ni (EGİ) Türkçeye uyarlamaktır. EGİ, ekonomik güçlüğü kapsamlı bir biçimde ölçen birbirinden bağımsız alt ölçeklerden oluşmaktadır. Bunlar, ekonomik güçlük (ailenin ekonomik koşullarına ilişkin göstergeler ve olumsuz ekonomik olaylar), ekonomik baskı (kıt kanaat geçim, maddi ihtiyaçlar ve parasal düzenlemeler) ve parasal endişelerdir. Araştırmaya ilköğretim 6., 7. ve 8. sınıflar ile ortaöğretim 9., 10. ve 11. sınıflara devam eden 278 öğrenci (152’si kız ve 126’sı erkek) ile onların anne ve babaları katılmıştır. EGİ’nin ölçüt geçerliğini sınamak amacıyla araştırmaya katılan öğrencilere algılanan ekonomik güçlüğü ölçmek için geliştirilmiş olan Ekonomik Güçlük Ölçeği (EGÖ) uygulanmıştır. EGİ’nin alt ölçekleri ile EGÖ arasındaki korelasyon katsayıları .25 ile .31 arasında değişmiştir. EGİ’nin alt ölçeklerinin Cronbach Alfa iç tutarlık katsayıları .80 ile .91; iki yarım güvenirlik katsayıları ise .76 ile .88 arasında değişmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında yapılan analizler EGİ’nin Türkçe formunun yeterli düzeyde geçerlik ve güvenirlik değerlerine sahip olduğunu göstermiştir.
