Öz

Geleneksel terapi yöntemlerinde var olan problemin nedeninin ne olduğu bulunarak problemin ortadan kaldırılabileceğine inanılır. Fakat Çözüm Odaklı Terapide (ÇOT) böyle bir amaç yoktur. ÇOT postmodern bir bakış açısına sahiptir ve herkes için genel geçer nesnel bir gerçekliğin var olduğunu reddeder. Dolayısıyla, fenomenolojik bir bakış açısına sahip birçok terapi yaklaşımında olduğu gibi var olan problemin kişiler tarafından nasıl algılanıldığına odaklanılır. Danışanların birçoğu terapilerden hızlı ve somut çıktılar elde etmek istemektedir. ÇOT kişilerin yetersiz yönlerinden çok yeterli yönlerini, güçsüz yönlerinden çok güçlü yönlerini ve sınırlı yönlerinden çok elinde var olan olanaklara odaklanmayı vurgulamakta ve problemlerin daha kısa sürede çözülmesini amaçlamaktadır. Terapist danışanların mevcut güçlü yönlerine ve kaynaklarına odaklanmanın en iyi yol olduğunu kabul ederek danışanla işbirliği yapar. Bu yöntemin çocuklar, ergenler ve yetişkinler üzerinde olumlu çıktılarına vurgu yapılmasına rağmen asıl çıkış noktası ailelerdir. Ailede herhangi birinde bir problem olması tüm aileyi oldukça etkileyebilmektedir. Dolayısıyla aile üyelerinin herhangi birinin problemine çözüm bulmak da tüm aileyi olumlu yönde etkileyecektir. ÇOT’un en özgün tarafı problemin çözümünü terapistin değil danışanların bulmasıdır. Bu derlemede ÇOT’un ailelerle/çiftlerle nasıl uygulanacağı ve araştırma çıktıları üzerine odaklanılmıştır.
