Öz
Son yıllarda tıp ve teknoloji alanında yaşanan gelişmeler insan ömrünün tarihteki diğer zamanlara göre oldukça uzamasına sebep olmuş ve bu da araştırmacıları insanların bu yılları en verimli, mutlu ve sağlıklı şekilde nasıl geçirilebileceği konusunda araştırma yapmaya teşvik etmiştir. Dünyada yapılan araştırmalar sonucunda ileri yetişkinlik döneminde psikolojik ve fiziksel sağlığı etkileyen faktörlerden birinin öz-şefkat olduğu görülmüştür ancak ülkemizde bu konuda oldukça sınırlı sayıda araştırma bulunmaktadır. Bu derleme çalışmasının amacı, yaşlılık döneminde öz-şefkat ve sağlık konusunda yapılmış alan yazındaki çalışmaları tartışmak, yaşlılarda öz-şefkati geliştirmenin yolları ve faydaları konusunda bilgi vermek, alandaki öğrenci, araştırmacı, politikacı ve klinisyenlere kaynak sağlamaktır. Bu amaçla, yaşlanma sürecinde öz-şefkat ile psikolojik ve fiziksel sağlık ilişkisi ele alınmış, öz-şefkat müdahale programları sunulmuş ve gelecek çalışma önerileri tartışılmıştır.
