Öz

Kronik bir hastalık olan diyabet, bireylerin yaşamlarını çarpıcı biçimde etkiler. Bu çalışmada sosyal destek, öz yeterlik, diyabetle ilişkili değişkenler (algılanan tehdit, tedavi türü, algılanan seyir ve tanıdan itibaren geçen zaman) ve bilişsel işlemenin yatarak tedavi alma öyküsü bulunan diyabetli hastalarda travma sonrası gelişim (TSG) üzerine rolünü değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Schaefer ve Moos (1998) modelinin teorik çerçevesi dikkate alınarak, sosyal destek, öz yeterlik, diyabetle ilgili değişkenler ve bilişsel işlemenin rolü, en az bir kez yatarak tedavi öyküsü bulunan (N = 275) diyabetli hasta grubunda yapısal eşitlik modeli kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Bulgulara bakıldığında, diyabetle ilgili faktörlerin, sosyal destek ile TSG arasındaki ilişkiye aracılık ettiği görülmüştür. Ayrıca, bilişsel işlemleme, öz yeterlilik ve TSG arasındaki ilişkiye aracılık etmiştir. Hastaların öz yeterliliğini arttırmak ve sosyal destek ağlarını kolaylaştırmak içerikli programlar sağlığın üzerinde yüksek kontrol sahibi olmayı sağladığı için diyabetli hastalar için psikososyal müdahale programları tasarlarken dikkate alınmalıdır.
