Öz
Bu araştırmanın amacı, üniversite yurtlarında aynı odada kalan, farklı sosyal kimlik kategorilerine (Türk/Kürt) sahip öğrencilerin, birbirleri ile ne ölçüde empati kurduklarını incelemektir. Araştırma, nitel çalışma olarak kurgulanmıştır. Araştırma, öğrenciler ile yüz yüze görüşme yapılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Toplam “45” (Türk-22/Kürt-23) öğrenci ile yüz yüze derinlemesine görüşme gerçekleştirilerek nitel veriler toplanmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplamak için standartlaştırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılmıştır. Nitel verilerin analizinde sırası ile veri azaltımı, veri gösterimi ve sonuç çıkarma aşamaları izlenmiştir. Türk/Kürt sosyal kimliklerine sahip öğrencilerin, birbirlerinin bakış açılarını genellikle anlayabildiklerini, ancak birbirlerinin dünya görüşlerini ise, genellikle anlayamadıkları bulunmuştur. Türk/Kürt sosyal kimliklere sahip öğrencilerin, diğer sosyal kimlikten arkadaşlarından birisinin, sıkıntı çektiğini, haksızlığa uğradığını ya da üzgün olduğunu gördüklerinde, hissettikleri duygular ve gösterdikleri davranışlar incelendiğinde, çarpıcı sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. Öğrenciler genellikle duygularını ifade ederken, diğer sosyal kimliğe sahip arkadaşlarının duygularına paralel olarak, can sıkıntısı çekme, üzüntü duyma, rahatsız olma, öfke ve kızgınlık duyma ve empati kurma gibi söylemlerde bulunmuşlardır. Benzeri biçimde öğrenciler davranışlarını ifade ederken ise, diğer sosyal kimliğe sahip öğrenciye yönelik, psikolojik destek, yardım etme, diyalog kurma, haksızlığa uğrayan tarafı savunma, derdini paylaşma, diyalog kurma gibi davranışları öne çıkarmışlardır.
