THE EXAMINATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TENDENCY OF VIOLENCE AND GENDER ROLES ATTITUDES AMONG THE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Abstract

In this study, the relationship between violence tendency and gender role attitudes among the university studens was examined The participants in this study included 300 students from university in Atatürk, Turkey. Data were collected by “Individual Knowledge Form”, “Violence Tendency Scale” and “Gender Roles Attitudes Scale. These analyses are made on the data obtained from the study; the frequency, percentage, t-test for independent groups, Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U. Result of the study indicated that a significant difference is found between the tendency of violence based on gender, exposure to domestic violence and witnessing domestic violence and a significant difference is found between the attitudes towards gender roles based on gender, in the family of the average monthly income, education level of their mother’s and witnessing domestic violence.
