The aim of this study is to examine the mediating role of ecological footprint awareness in the relationship between individuals' eco-anxiety levels, sustainable consumption behavior and climate change denial. The sample of the study consisted of 338 (254 female and 84 male) university students between the ages of 18-46. Personal Information Form, Eco-Anxiety Scale, Sustainable Consumption Behaviors Scale, Climate Change Denial Scale and Ecological Footprint Awareness Scale were used as data collection tools. The results of the analysis revealed that ecological footprint awareness played a full mediating role in the relationship between eco-anxiety and sustainable consumption behavior. Accordingly, as eco-anxiety increases, ecological footprint awareness increases, which in turn increases sustainable consumption behaviors. In addition, ecological footprint awareness was found to play a full mediating role in the relationship between eco-anxiety and climate change denial. This shows that as eco-anxiety increases, ecological footprint awareness increases, and increased awareness decreases climate change denial. In conclusion, the role of ecological awareness in this study to understand the emotions, cognitions and behaviors caused by ecological disasters is clearly seen.
